IONA ISV Program Reduces FINDBase's Total Cost of Ownership for J2EE Technology

Waltham, MA  - IONA®, the leading e-Business Platform provider for Total Business Integration™ (NASDAQ: IONA), today announced that FINDbase™, a provider of distributed information discovery, sharing and protection solutions, has chosen the iPortal Application Server 3.0 as the underlying infrastructure for its kimSPACE™ collaborative knowledge management system.

FINDbase's kimSPACE (www.kimspace.com) product family helps customers find information more effectively on the Web utilizing a patent-pending extended peer-to-peer system that enables groups of people to share limitless data with each other. The kimSPACE discovery and extraction technology enables organizations to link systems together into one knowledge and computational base. FINDbase's AdaptiveStores™ provides the intelligent stores behind the kimSPACE discovery engine. As part of this solution and for the first time, Application Servers and Networks can be protected against undesired Access Behaviors with the INFOtector™ family (www.infotector.com).

The kimSPACE product family utilizes a unique adaptive Clerver design incorporating an application server to help customers build customized implementations for their specific environments and to interface to the kimSPACE collaborative environment. Taking advantage of IONA's ISV program, which provides an unlimited development subscription and deployment license for the iPortal Application Server 3.0, FINDbase has implemented IONA's next-generation J2EE technology as the development foundation for the kimSPACE information discovery and retrieval system.

"In the iPortal Application Server we found a high performance and highly-configurable J2EE environment that only comes from an organization that intuitively understands the technology," said Ian Nandhra, CEO at FINDbase. "IONA's iPortal Application Server has helped us solve fundamental problems and make the huge technological leaps required for the kimSPACE distributed environment. We applaud IONA's dedication to bring J2EE to the masses and admire its approach toward partners -- this just takes talent."

"IONA understands that J2EE it is the platform of choice in today's enterprise, and we'll continue to take a leadership position in helping ISVs capitalize on J2EE's wide-spread adoption," said John Petrie, vice president of application server sales at IONA. "We think FINDbase has one of the most interesting knowledge management applications available today, and we're thrilled that they've selected our underlying infrastructure to power their offerings."

IONA's new ISV program offers organizations of all sizes the opportunity to implement J2EE technology at no risk and with minimum financial commitment. The program is structured in three-tiers based on the profile of the ISV: Start-up companies with less than $10 million annual revenues; High-growth companies with less than $100 million in annual revenues; and Established organizations with greater than $100 million in annual revenues. ISV's may obtain developer subscriptions, unlimited embedded deployment licenses, technical support and upgrades through December 31, 2002 for a program fee starting at $2,500. Beginning in 2003, companies participating in the program will then transition to a modest royalty payment.

The iPortal Application Server 3.0 combines strict J2EE standard conformance, unique Extreme Programming features, and dynamic deployment with application integration and Web services generation tools to provide unparalleled usability, flexibility and reliability for enterprise applications.
